Why we do what we do

Oliver's "Why?"

When I was a kid, I had the same dream most people do: grow up, get rich, and have a huge house with an endless backyard where I could adopt and care for every stray dog I came across. I soon realized it wasn’t as easy as I thought, but the dream never really went away. And while I haven’t made it to that scale (yet), I’ve tried to do as much as I can. Every furry friend my family and I have had has either been adopted or rescued, and we’ve never once regretted that decision.

My dear friend Haru, a German Shepherd who’s no longer with us, and my sweet little Nena, a beautiful chihuahua who also sadly isn’t here anymore, taught me what pure, noble love truly is. And it’s that same unconditional love that I believe every dog deserves in return.

I’m absolutely crazy about all dogs (especially small breeds, they’re my weakness, but don’t tell our big fluffy ones that!). All my life, I’ve been surrounded by dogs, and they’ve taught me how important it is to pause for a moment, take in the view, and enjoy the little things, just like they do.

Years ago, I started to notice how our four-legged friends seem to understand us almost perfectly, and I made it my mission to understand them too. That’s how I began learning about how they think, how their brains work, and what’s the best way to help them depending on each unique situation.

There are so many techniques and approaches out there, and I love staying up to date and always learning more. But there’s one thing I never forget when it comes to guiding a dog: it has to come from a place of love. I’m not here to just to train a dog, I’m here to help a friend.

"Every pup has their own story; I’m just here to help them write a happy ending."
