How one rescue dog started EZ Pups

In 2021, Local Umbrella asked to feature Davin. Families still tell us how much they loved reading it, so here it is, just as it ran in print.

The short version

  • Davin grew up with a black lab named Lilo, fell for the Belgian Malinois, and volunteered as a "decoy" with the Oceanside Working Dogs Club.
  • He saved Declan, a Malinois who'd been adopted once and sent back, with less than a day before he'd be put down. Declan became the first of many foster dogs.
  • Angelee, Davin's friend since grade school, got hooked on training Declan too.
  • Davin's training videos had friends and strangers asking, "Can you please help me with my dog?" That's how EZ Pups began.
  • His advice then is how we still work: be consistent, make training worth it for the dog, and never punish a dog for something it doesn't understand yet.

Since then

Same idea, bigger crew

Declan's story turned into a family-run crew of 11 and more than 100 reviews on Google. Dogs now move in with us for 4, 6 or 11 weeks of board and train.

The basics haven't changed: be consistent, make training worth it for the dog, and never punish a dog for something it doesn't understand yet.

Want the crew in your corner?

Tell us about your dog

The consultation is free and there's no pressure. On the call we'll:

  • Hear what's going on, in as much detail as you've got
  • Tell you which program fits your dog, or if something else would work better
  • Walk you through exactly how we'd train your dog
  • Give you the price and answer every "what if"

No waitlist for board and train.

Baby on the way? Moving? Big trip coming up? Tell us your date and we'll plan around it.
