Aggressive or reactive with dogs or people

Lunging, barking, biting, or one scary moment you never want repeated. These owners had been there.

Tonight we went on a walk, and it was hands down the best walk we’ve ever had together.

Jaidyn Giselle 2-year-old English Bulldog · 4-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

I can’t say enough good things about EZ Pups. I have a two-year-old English Bulldog who was extremely aggressive and reactive toward both humans and other animals. Daily life became incredibly stressful, for both me and my dog. After a serious incident where he got off leash and attacked another dog, I knew professional training was no longer optional. From the very beginning, Joe was amazing. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything and how their training works, daily routines, goals, and the different board-and-train options. He was super informative and transparent, which made the decision much easier. We ultimately chose the four-week board and train. Throughout my dog’s entire stay, the EZ Pups team was incredible. They were always quick to respond to texts and calls, sent weekly training update videos, and most importantly, showed genuine care and love for my dog. I never once felt left in the dark.

When my dog first arrived, he was completely spazzing out and immediately showing aggressive behaviors toward the trainers. The team stayed calm, confident, and consistent. By the end of the four weeks, he was more relaxed and honestly more loving with the staff than with me—which says everything about the trust they built with him. Huge props to Andrew (one of the trainers) on all of the hard work and effort he put into helping myself and my fur baby. Thank you so so much Andrew!!! I was a little nervous bringing him back home since I live in a high-rise right next to a dog park. I wasn’t sure if he’d listen to me the way he listened to the trainers. But I am truly blown away. Tonight we went on a walk, and it was hands down the best walk we’ve ever had together. He stayed right by my side, calmly walked past multiple dogs, stood next to strangers, and handled situations I once thought were completely impossible for him. For the first time, I felt confident trusting my dog and he trusted me. That feeling is priceless!!!!! A huge thank you to the entire EZ Pups team. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t found them. Forever grateful for the entire team :)

Thank you all so much for making Molly be able to stay a part of our family.

Shannon Brewer Molly, rescue Malinois Google review (opens in a new tab)

Davin and his team are incredible. We have a rescue Mal that would bite my husband and was VERY AGGRESSIVE with other people. She is still a Mal at heart but has calmed down ALOT, thanks to this team. Thank you all so much for making Molly be able to stay a part of our family.

I had tried multiple different trainers and training techniques. EZ Pups was my last resort.

Dominick Martinez Simba, Husky · 4-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

I have a Husky named Simba and he was extremely aggressive to other dogs and stubborn! I had tried multiple different trainers and training techniques. EZ Pups was my last resort. I did the board and train and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. We left him with EZ Pups for 4 weeks. We were allowed to visit and see him during the 4 weeks. When we picked him up it was night and day difference. He was a new dog! We can now take him out in public and he loves make new friends. EZ Pups has the best team, and I recommend everyone to work with them for any dog training needs.

He was no longer reactive to people or dogs, he was even able to play with them!

Yadira Castellano One-month board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

We brought our boy here when we first got to San Diego. He was reactive to dog and people even if they were far away, wouldn't respond to commands outside our home and lunged at any dog walking by. Living in a heavily populated area, we knew we needed to do something. We met with Davin, loved his facility and decided to do his board and train program. We were not disappointed ❤️ In the month he was there, our boy's behaviorial issues seemed to disappear. He was no longer reactive to people or dogs, he was even able to play with them! He walks beautifully on leash and follows his commands in most situations he is in with no problem. Our trainer, Joe, has also been great in staying in contact and offering advice when needed. We could never thank them enough and are so grateful for them!

Pulling, lunging and walks you dread

Dragged down the street, or tensing up at every dog you pass. Here's what changed for them.

Now I can walk her with the leash in two fingers most of the time.

Gabi Mason Juno, shepherd mix · 6-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

We did the 6 week board and train with our shepherd mix Juno and picked her up back in February. I waited to write this review because pickup day was honestly SO impressive that I wanted to see if it would last lol.

Walks were better right away and they've stayed that way. She used to drag me down the street and lose her mind at other dogs. Now I can walk her with the leash in two fingers most of the time. She still gets a little stiff when she sees certain dogs, but I can get her attention back pretty easily, which was NOT the case before.

The door took more work. She was great at it with the trainer, but once she got home, she kind of forgot the rules whenever someone knocked, especially with my sister (her favorite person ever). We practiced a few times a week for about a month and a half and used one of the follow-up lessons on it. Now she goes to her bed when the doorbell rings almost every time. My sister is still a work in progress 😂

Real talk though, we got lazy around month 4 and she started begging at dinner again. Totally our fault. We went back to the basics for a couple weeks, and she was fine again. So it's not a magic fix, you do have to keep up with it, but it's like 5 minutes a day, not a huge commitment.

Overall, our life with her is so much better. Walks are actually fun now and having people over isn't chaos anymore. Would recommend, and definitely use the follow up lessons!

And I can walk him without any issues!

Allison Munoz Riley, 70 lb Belgian Malinois · A little over six weeks Google review (opens in a new tab)

My dog Riley would drag me around with the leash, would want to chase after bicyclists, and other dogs. I had a 70 lb dog jumping up on me with excitement every time he saw me. He also wouldn’t get along with our two senior poodles. After looking into training facilities, I brought my belgian malinois here at a desperate attempt to change him. He spent a little over six weeks with ezpups, and we got him back a completely changed my handsome baby! He no longer jumps up on family members, doesn’t have an aggressive compulsion to chase after any breathing thing he comes across, he gets along with the other dogs in our home. And I can walk him without any issues! Thank you so much to his trainers over at ezpups in San Diego, you guys have allowed us to take him out in public areas without any issues. I will bring him back for further training! :)

Let me tell you, it was all worth it to be able to take my dog on a walk without her trying to eat every other dog in the neighborhood!

Love this place! Staff is so friendly and the training is top notch. Let me tell you, it was all worth it to be able to take my dog on a walk without her trying to eat every other dog in the neighborhood!

Puppies, before the habits stick

Biting, barking, pulling and endless energy. Start right and you skip years of untraining.

When I picked him up after the four weeks, he was a changed pup!

Kleonceleste Magsayo Nalu, 4-month-old pup · 4-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

Davin was a great trainer! I sent over my 4 month pup, Nalu, to his 4 week board and train program, and the results were great! Davin was very communicative and professional from day 1. We were able to do a meet and greet prior to signing up for the training to understand the whole program. Nalu had issues with barking, biting, leash pulling, and his recall. When I picked him up after the four weeks, he was a changed pup! No issues of barking, biting, leash pulling was significantly better, and his recall is almost perfect, which is a ton of progress for a young pup. Davin ensured to train Nalu, while also not pushing him too hard and understanding his boundaries. Nalu also made puppy friends with the others in the program and when I would go visit, I just saw how much he was enjoying it. He looked even sad to be leaving haha! … All in all, could not say enough great things about Davin and EZ pups!

He still has his personality/quirks but now has manners!

Chantalle W Puppy · Board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

This is the best board and train! They have amazing trainers, great communication, and they actually care for your dog as if its their own! We were nervous about our puppy losing his quirks/personality while he was training, but it was far from that. He still has his personality/quirks but now has manners! The trainers learned his personality and made a plan that would work best for our puppy! They provided a weekly video update (of course they answered any questions we had throughout the week) but it provided peace of mind to see our puppy's progress and joy being around the trainers, like he was happy to be learning from them! They showed our puppy the same love we would show for him! EZ Pups set the bar high and is the only place we trust with our puppy!!

I left my malinois pup with him for a month of board and train, the puppy I got back was totally transformed.

Morgan Bawlor Pepper, Malinois pup · One-month board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

Davin is truly a master at his craft. I left my malinois pup with him for a month of board and train, the puppy I got back was totally transformed. She went from having absolutely no confidence (she wouldn’t even try to jump on something that an inch off the ground) and turned into my little mountain goat with an overwhelming amount of drive and confidence, now if she tried to jump on something and fails, she’ll try again and again without you even having to ask her. She has this general approach now to everything and it’s AMAZING. Raising a puppy by yourself is no easy task and with Davins help and the foundation he laid with my puppy, I now don’t struggle like I used to and the relationship I have with Pepper (my dog) is something that is out of this world and so incredibly fulfilling for the both of us.

If you’re thinking of using Davins skills and services in any capacity DO IT. And more specifically if your thinking of taking advantage of his board and train programs DEFINITELY DO IT! It has all been money well spent.

And to top it all off he is very responsive and happy to answer questions or help in whatever way he can whenever you need it. I don’t think that’s something you’ll find with any other trainers in the SD area.

Coming when called, on and off leash

From “won’t come back” to beaches and dog parks without the worry.

Because of that, I can confidently take him to restaurants, the dog park, farmers markets, and more without the anxiety I used to feel.

MacKenzie Madsen Koda, 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd · 6-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

I sent my 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd, Koda, to EZ Pups for their 6-week training program, and the experience completely exceeded my expectations. From the start, I was in regular communication with Andrew, who provided weekly updates and videos, which really helped ease my mind. He was also incredibly responsive and supportive after training, always available to answer any questions I had.

Before training, walks were stressful, and outings felt overwhelming. Now, Koda no longer pulls on the leash, has reliable recall, and holds commands until I release him, those were my top goals going into training. Because of that, I can confidently take him to restaurants, the dog park, farmers markets, and more without the anxiety I used to feel.

Everywhere we go, people stop me to compliment how well-behaved he is and ask how I trained him. I always tell them EZ Pups! I was hesitant about the price at first, but after going through the process and seeing Koda’s transformation, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat with any future dog.

Before they had no recall and now they are great and we can take them to dog beaches/parks without worry that they won't listen to us.

Noah Newburgh Two 3-year-old pups · 6-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

The team at EZ Pups was great! At first I was apprehensive to do board and train because it is sometimes expensive and also results may vary once they get out of the training environment. We sent both of our 3 year old pups to the team at EZ Pups for the 6 week board and train to help with leash manners, advanced obedience, and off leash recall. The team went above and beyond, and when we got our pups back they were like new dogs! We were worried they would come back without their personalities and fun quirks we like but everything was the same, but now they are a dream on the leash/off leash and in the home! Before they had no recall and now they are great and we can take them to dog beaches/parks without worry that they won't listen to us. It is truly freeing. Andrew always sent timely updates and was extremely responsive when we would worry about them or have questions. On our follow up we had the opportunity to get more training and continue to positively reinforce the training that was provided by the team at EZ Pups. If you are on the fence for training, do it with EZ Pups. San Diego is very dog friendly and it is 10x better when you can indulge in all the dog friendly activities with your furry friends without stress. Thanks again for the great experience!

I can trust him off leash and he will always be near me.

Olivia de Lisser French bulldog · 11-week board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

My little frenchie did the 11 week training and he came back a whole new dog. He no longer runs out of the door or jumps on people. He is social with other dogs. I can trust him off leash and he will always be near me. Frenchies are stubborn as hell, and he came back fully listening without worry. They also give refresher training sessions which totally help!

Jumping, bolting and house manners

Jumping on guests, ignoring you at home, behavior that makes every day harder than it should be.

The progress of obedience in which we saw from drop off to pick up was astonishing.

Taylor Sandoval Roxy, cattle dog · About a month of board and train Google review (opens in a new tab)

Just wanted to take the time and shout out Joe and the rest of the staff at EZ Pup! The staff here at EZ Pups communicated well, built trust with not only my dog, but with us as owners, and worked with our dog day in and day out to reach the needs we needed to train our cattle dog. We put our Roxy in the board & train program for about a month. The progress of obedience in which we saw from drop off to pick up was astonishing. I’ve already told friends, family, and dog owners I see around town about the training Roxy received. Having a cattle dog ain’t for the weak, but big thank you to these guys for training Roxy and training us as owners! Big shout out to Joe for making us feel like family! Thank you guys!

I sent my dog here for the 4 week board and train. It was everything i wanted! Seeing him home behaving so well honestly brought tears to my eyes. I received pictures and progress updates throughout his time there, and it was really nice to see the hard work the trainers were putting in. When I felt like I was failing training our girl, he gave us hope and a better understanding of realistic expectations.

Heather Judd 8-month-old Bernedoodle · Sessions with Davin Google review (opens in a new tab)

I highly recommend Davin at EZ pups. I couldn't be more pleased with the progress we've seen with our 8 month old Bernedoodle puppy.

Initially, we had a quite the difficult time with our smartie-pants' stubbornness, and her handler aggression tendencies. When all other avenues seemed to be ineffective, we reached out to Davin for help.

He was able to quickly navigate through her issues and train us up on how to work with her more effectively. He gave us easy tips, tricks, and homework that we could work on, on a weekly basis as well as just a support system. When I felt like I was failing training our girl, he gave us hope and a better understanding of realistic expectations.

I am amazed at our pup now. She is well on her way to becoming our sweet and obedient little puppy, and we owe it all to Davin at EZ Pups.

It was almost like a shift in our house because he was able to train my family (who needed more training than the dogs!) how to work with our pups.

Nicole Mills Two littermates, Boxer/Husky mix · Sessions with Davin Google review (opens in a new tab)

Davin is by far the best dog trainer there is. 100000% recommend!

We have two littermates (Boxer/Husky mix) in our house and tried training at Petsmart, and I afterwards I was still at my wits end. It was obvious from day one with Davin that he knew what he was doing and was able to pass on that knowledge to us. It was almost like a shift in our house because he was able to train my family (who needed more training than the dogs!) how to work with our pups. Our family has had many sessions with him since then and recommend him to anyone looking for help with their dog.

Outside of the training itself, he cares about the dogs/people he works with, is quick to respond, reasonably priced, and thoughtfully answers any questions you have. Within that first session, it was clear he is passionate about his work. If you need some help with your pup, give him a call!!!
